I hope everyone had some lovely holidays as I did, spending most the day watching Christmas television and trying to stay drunk as much and for as long as I could.

I made this skeleton dessin to express my current emotion, pain of the butt. In my hours of being a Christmas drunk I slipped and fell on my tailbone and ever since I've been hobbling around the house making everyone in a close vicinity feel sorry for me.

So just remember I was crippled when I did this...

Time for a bit of nostalgia

Right now I am nervously waiting for any news on the results of the Cornwall Film Festival, seeing if I've won any money with my film Cowboy Love. So I thought I'd share something with you.

When I was young, I was OBSESSED with dolphins.

I mean, I had to have them. On my sheets, my notebooks, as stuffed animals and on jewelery. It was the only thing I drew and the only animal I cared about.

But when I found out about a book called "An Ring of Endless Light" about a girl who deals with the trauma of her dying grandfather through time spent studying dolphin and human communication (and of course a lot of romance), I pretty much died with anticipation to read it. As an eleven year old this book covered all the things that were important to me: love, anything terribly heavy and dramatic (death) and dolphins. But they include a poem which the book was named after, and I thought the first three lines of it was the most beautiful poetry I had ever heard:

I saw Eternity the other night
Like a great Ring of pure and endless light,
All calm as it was bright ;

I'm sure no one else can understand the magic that this book brought to me but here you go anyways, a poem I like, which is rare for me to find.

I'm kind of sick right now, a sure sign winter's frigid winds are not far behind, so I did a drawing. It's an ode to my favorite man Marcel Dzama, he's so cool! He's at the Tate Modern right now so I am so there. Totally.

I need to do everything more, run more, laugh more, draw more, take more pictures, I want to do everything all the time but I end up not doing anything instead! My mom used to say, "There just aren't enough hours in the day," but I want to scream To hell with that!

I want to make Chinese lanterns, knit a hat for winter and write up a storyboard in the next few weeks! Anyone in?

To improve my drawing I'm starting a couple of series of things that I don't like to draw, usually because I can't draw them very well. So I'm starting with furniture mostly because symmetrical things scare me a bit but c'est la vie! Prepare yourself for some crazy still-lifes comin at ya!

No. 1 A couch from the Yumchaa Cafe in Soho.

No. 2 The wardrobe in my bedroom.

No. 3 A metal chair in the Tartine cafe in Tooting.

What is my luxury?

So as everyone who has spoken to me in the last two months knows, I have not been living a life of luxury. My days consist of sitting on our red brick of a couch and watching enough daytime television to make anyone sick. Most of the time I'm alone with my cat Gaston, which I'm enjoying as I don't like the idea of people seeing me be pathetic all day. I tried to be slightly productive though so I painted a picture of me being bored.

I do have goals but I feel like I'm waiting for them like I'm waiting for a bus. If I sit in the right place, it will come.

Today I watched Marie Antoinette and it made me want money. A lot of money doesn't make me happy, but a good amount does. I was silly to think that when I graduated I would stop living like a student.

Tonight I've tried a subject that I usually don't delve into: myself. This one took me a while, even though the result looks quite graphic and straight forward because I find myself a bit lost on photoshop still. I think I'm still finding my feet with doing artwork that I actually create, instead of photoshop doing it for me, if that makes sense (i.e I mostly used a filter).

Will work on this more when it's not two in the morning.

D&AD Contest!

Well I started working on the D&AD Contest which is to design a character for a Disney comedy series and to produce a 30- 60 second animation for it. I believe entries start getting turned in by the 7th of February so I better get cracking! Here's a couple initial drawings. My idea was a kid whale who is trying to get really good on the banjo so he could join his famous banjo playing father on tour. I changed my mind though on the whale and tried making him into a little boy, and I think I'm going to make the banjo a magic banjo, just to throw that in.

Banjos are a bit lame but I'll work on it.

This ident was done with my team of Perrie Murphy, Kristin Wright and Rayner Wang in the BA Animation course and I love how it turned out. A polar bear proves to some punk bears that he's not very different from them and in the end they all dance so you know, thats always good.
